Harmonic Tech has developed two models of dedicated power cables, MUSE OC and MUSE OS, using square core conductor technology. These cables utilize square single-crystal copper (MUSE OC) and square single-crystal silver (MUSE OS) conductors. The advantage of square core conductors is that they eliminate a central point, greatly reducing the impact of the skin effect and resulting in more consistent transmission across high, mid, and low frequencies, as well as improved coherence.
The manufacturer has also invested considerable effort into the structural design, employing a 45-degree spiral arrangement that closely resembles the structure of DNA, often referred to as a DNA Helix. This design enhances durability and flexibility. The opposing arrangement of positive and negative conductors at a 45-degree angle allows the magnetic fields to effectively cancel each other out, creating a natural shielding effect that results in a quieter background and a more open sound compared to traditional metal shielding.
In addition to its application in speaker cables, the MUSE OC square core conductors can also be utilized in power cables, delivering equally exceptional performance.
The MUSE OC/OS power cables consist of eight approximately AWG20 square single-crystal copper/single-crystal silver conductors, available in both single-crystal copper and single-crystal silver versions. The single-crystal silver version provides better high-frequency extension compared to the single-crystal copper, with more refined high-frequency lines and enhanced airiness and micro-dynamics. According to the manufacturer, these cables are particularly suitable for source equipment such as CD players (CDP), CD transports (CDT), DACs, clocks, and preamplifiers.
